Why Psychometric Assessments?

Psychometric assessments are essential tools for understanding the mind and its workings, providing deep insights into a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. These assessments help in various critical areas:

Standardised and Reliable

They offer standardised measures, ensuring consistency and reliability in interpreting results.

Unbiased Evaluation

These assessments are designed to be unbiased, offering fair evaluation regardless of the individual’s background.

Accurate Reflection

They offer an accurate reflection of a person’s psyche, capturing their true nature and behavioural tendencies.

Predictive Power

Psychometric tests can predict future behaviour and performance, aiding in making informed decisions in educational and organisational settings.

Data-Driven Insights

Rooted in scientific research, they provide data-driven insights rather than relying on subjective judgement or gut feel.

Holistic Understanding

They provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas for development.

About Swayam

Our Story

In 1997/98, my child was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 8/9 and the school suggested transferring them to a special needs school. Driven by my desire to provide my child with opportunities for higher education and a successful career, I delved into researching dyslexia. However, I found limited resources on the topic. It was also concerning to see that the available psychometric tests were derived from foreign sources and not adequately suited for use in India.

Recognizing that western psychological theories were limited in their comprehension of the human mind and actions, I sought guidance from Indian psychological approaches. Through this exploration, I came across the Pancha Mahabhuta theory, which serves as the foundation of all existence. Applying these principles to gain insight into individuals, I devised assessments based on this theoretical framework. To ensure accuracy, reliability and global applicability, modern psychometric and statistical methods were utilized to standardize these tests. This work has earned international recognition, with over 18 peer-reviewed publications validating the high reliability and validity of these assessments, which are now used in multiple countries for research purposes.

Meanwhile, my child finished their schooling through the regular system and went on to study law, becoming a practicing lawyer in Bangalore. Inspired by this experience, I founded Swayam Analytics to assist and empower students and professionals to succeed. Swayam Analytics strives to comprehend human behavior through culturally relevant psychometric assessments, tailored specifically for the Indian ethos and psyche. Our scientifically sound and robust evaluations serve a wide range of industries including educational institutions, corporates, BPOs, GCCs, BFSI, and IT/Non-IT sectors, in order to promote better understanding and development of individuals.

Our Methodology

At Swayam we have adopted the comprehensive 5-Element theory based on the Indic system and philosophy of understanding people based on the mind-body-spirit complex.

The Indic systems of thought believe that the entire universe- both animate and inanimate- is made up of the 5 primordial elements or the Pancha Mahabhutas. These Pancha Mahabhutas combine with each other at the physiological level to form the Tridoshas of Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

The same Pancha Mahabhutas combine with each other at the psychological level to form the Trigunas of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. The Tridoshas and Trigunas are constantly interacting with each other which gives us our unique personality and traits.

The tests at Swayam are the only ones in the world analyzing people on the physiological, psychological & ethical aspects of behavior, making it holistic, in-depth and comprehensive while offering unparalleled accuracy in decoding behavior. This results in detailed, multi-layered interpretations without the need to take multiple tests.

Each of the physiological aspects of Vata, Pitta, Kapha and their permutations and combinations have certain characteristics that are unique to them. In humans it expresses itself as behaviors and inclinations that make us behave in certain ways. These behaviors are intrinsic to us and are stable over our lifetime.

By knowing what our physiological and psychological combination is, we then know how we will behave in situations and what our likes and dislikes are. This can then be used to predict – in this case – which careers we will enjoy and be good at, and what kind of behaviors will be useful in certain careers. We can use this knowledge to identify where we will excel and harness our unique personality to succeed in life and profession.

A brief example is given below:

The person on the left is a stable, methodical person. Their characteristics are listed below. Knowing their personality and behavior and what they would enjoy, we can identify the professions in which they will perform well and enjoy.

Similarly about the person on the right who is a creative, high-energy person. Knowing their characteristics will enable them to identify courses and professions they will perform well in.
